School volunteer forms need to be filled out every year and a criminal record cheque must be submitted and is good for 3 years. Call the school office if you need the forms sent home with your child if you can’t get in to the school because of work.
Prince George is hosting the BC Summer Games from July 21-24st and volunteers like you are needed to make this a successful event. Ecole Lac des Bois will be hosting athletes and their are volunteer opportunities available at various times day and night. Even if you have 1 hour of your time to give it can make a big difference!
If you can make some time on June 23rd or 24th Ecole Lac des Bois is putting on an Indigenous Culture week and needs your help. Here are the details provided by Vice Principal Cliff Waldie:
Thursday, June 23 – Roughly 10-20 parent volunteers
There will be 10 stations, including a concession with ideally 1-2 parents at each station to help run it for students as they arrive. The stations will be pre-designed and setup, by the LDB leadership students and there will most likely be leadership students at the station as well.
Friday, June 24 – Roughly 8-10 Parents volunteers
Parents / Guardians needed to assist in the bannock making for the school. The dough will be pre-pared ahead of time, but the parents will be involved in the cooking and distribution process.
Don’t have your forms volunteer forms submitted? If you don’t have your criminal record check done yet it is not too late. If you have trouble getting the forms from the office simply call the office and have the forms sent home with your child. Criminal record checks are saved on file and are good for 3 years so you will be ready to volunteer for next year if you act now.
If you have any questions please feel free to reach out to LDB PAC at firstname.lastname@example.org or Vice-Principal Cliff Waldie at CWaldie@sd57.bc.ca
A message from the DPAC Executive about DPAC’s June’s meeting theme of Truth and Reconciliation:
Hadih – Good day,
We will meet at the outdoor Indigenous Learning space at Rainbow Drive and Ospika Blvd for drumming, connection, refreshments. We will have an informal meeting style to encourage sharing and collaboration.
Representatives from the Indigenous Education department and SD57’s new Indigenous Assistant Superintendent, Pam Spooner, will be on hand to share updates on the progress since the 2021 Special Advisor’s report. We will also discuss the new draft policies on Anti-Racism and Indigenous Racial Reconciliation which are open for public feedback through October 12.
We have a few containers of cookie dough, muffin dough and cinnamon buns that are extra since we had to order complete cases. As a result we’ve listed the extras for sale on https://ldbpac.hotlunches.net/. Quantities are limited. Ordering closes June 13th. Thank you for your continued support!
The Ecole Lac des Bois Parent Advisory Council (PAC) will be having our Annual General Meeting on June 14th 2022 in person at the Lhana Dune sharing circle at Ecole Lac des Bois. If the weather is bad we will hold it in the library. Everyone welcome!
